We would like to think that iHostPoker is the only casino party company in town, but of course there are a handful of other ‘players’, so it is up to us to EDUCATE the consumer that is shopping for the best casino night party company for them. Some will talk about the ‘Event’ and others will talk about the ‘Experience’ while others will make you think you are in ‘Monte Carlo’ or ‘More’. Lefts cut through the hype and get down to basic business.
There is no debating the fact that credit cards provide consumers with a convenient way of purchasing products and services. In addition to the convenience and rewards programs that many of the major card brands offer today, there is a very important consumer protection that comes with making purchases with your credit card instead of using cash. In the event that a consumer has purchased products that are defective or services are not delivered as promised, the fact that a credit card was used for the purchase provides the consumer with a degree of protection provided by the credit card company as an independent arbitrator for resolving disputes. When a consumer disputes a charge on their credit card for whatever reason, the amount that is disputed is held back from the balance that is immediately due until the dispute is resolved, including accrued interest on the charge.
This is especially important when dealing with a business in the service industry, such as a casino hosting business. When purchasing a product, it either works or it doesn’t work. However, with services companies the situation becomes a bit more subjective and contracts need to be interpreted. Compound that with purchasing services such as a casino night party for example from a company you have never dealt with before, and now the need for credit card protection becomes critical.
There are other consumer protection entities out there such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and others. These organizations will allow you to file complaints against a business, but they are rarely effective in helping you recover any money from an individual transaction outside of filing a law suit. Only a credit card will provide you with the unique protections and intervention associated with an individual transaction gone bad.
Beware of Businesses that do not Accept Credit Cards
A business that accepts credit card transactions has been issued a merchant account number by a credit card processing company. In order to obtain this merchant account number, the credit card processing company performs a background check and a credit check on the business and the individuals running the business. Credit card processing companies want to ensure that they aren’t going to be subject to a great deal of charge backs which end up costing them money. So in essence, the credit card processing company has done more than the average consumer can do on their own in qualifying the business as being a reputable business.
A company that operates on a cash only basis is saving a significant amount of money by not having to pay all of the transaction fees associated with credit card purchases. Discount fees, Interchange Fees, Authorization fees, Statement fees, Monthly minimum fees, Batch fees, Customer Service Fees, Annual Fees, and Charge Back Fees. All of these fees are of course passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices, so there is a good reason to work with cash if you are seeing a substantial price difference. However, if you are dealing with a business that you have no previous experience in dealing with, then just view the slightly higher price that comes with a credit card transaction as insurance.
A Debit Card is not a Credit Card
Just because it is a plastic card with a bunch of numbers on it doesn’t make it a credit card. A debit card will take money directly from your checking or savings account at your local bank. It is more convenient than cash, but it does not provide you with any of the protections that a credit card offers. Once a debit has been made against your account, that money is gone. With a credit card, the credit card company pays the merchant and is essentially giving you a short-term loan for the amount of the purchase. This is why most consumers pay a high interest rate on credit card balances that are carried over from one billing cycle to another.
By doing business with a company that accepts credit card transactions you are assured that the credit card processing company has performed due diligence on the reputation and credit worthiness of the company, and you are also provided with a level of protection that is worth more than what you would save by dealing with a potentially shady ‘cash only’ company.
